Master Bathroom Renovation

I am so excited to share this master bathroom renovation with you, this project was just completed. It really is a huge transformation. The homeowners called me in once they started peeling off the dated wallpaper, after our first meeting we started working on a great plan to make their master bathroom more functional and visualy pleasing. Plus, they are planning to sell their house down the road, so upgrades for resale were a huge part of the design.

Here are some quick sketches of the bathroom layout before and what I designed for the space:
(I wont bore you with my technical CAD drawings) :)

There were so many problems with this original plan. Bulky walls breaking up sight lines, low counters, a linen closet that wasn't very functional because it was too deep, a dated shower that felt like cave. (I don't think Bruce Wayne could even appreciate this batcave of a space!) All of these elements made you feel closed in and you wanted to exit fast.

That is no longer the case...

A higher vanity with double sinks, beautiful new tile on the walls and floor, a sleek frameless shower. This bathroom no longer feels dark and closed in. It is now a beautiful space for the homeowners to enjoy!

I am so pleased with the turnout and I am happy to know that the homeowners are as well. They left me this stellar review, thanks guys!

"We had decided to do a complete renovation of the master bathroom and had no idea where to begin except to tear it all down and start over. With a very small room and no ideas, we were thrilled with the level of creativity Lisa brought to the project while keeping our budget in mind. We had wanted something nice in keeping with our tastes throughout the house but not too personal so that in the event we sell it will appeal to a large audience.

Lisa was able to tailor a bathroom that was modern but retained the earthy feel that we have throughout the house and gave us multiple options on ways to utilize the space to give the room a bigger feel. We did most of the work ourselves and she was very understanding of our schedule and the fact that by doing it ourselves there may be longer delays in getting everything done. We had many questions throughout the project and she was always very prompt in getting back to us, taking our calls or responding quickly to email.

We would recommend Lisa as a full service designer to anyone looking for help on a project!"

Lately, I've been a grill master...

We are so lucky and received so many awesome wedding gifts! (still working on the thank you cards guys, coming to a mailbox near you soon!) One of our favorite I have to say, is our new Weber grill that my parents gave us. Boy oh boy! For those who know me, know that I am not really the domestic diva and the kitchen is really not where I shine. But let me tell you, once I start cooking outdoors on the grill, I am a whole new woman! David is totally surprised by this new woman he has married ;)

All of this outdoor cooking, has got me thinking of outdoor entertaining and fun in the sun...

Maybe you prefer a more classic look for your outdoor area:
^^Classic colors, simple metal furniture. You can't go wrong with this look.

Or maybe you prefer to be a little more modern and give your guests some wow!
Bright colors, mixed textures and geometric patterns make this space ready for fun. Pass the Mojitos!

Happy grilling!

Hello my friends, sorry I have been slacking on the blog front lately. I've been working on a few projects and marketing ideas that I am excited to share with you in the future.

Re-style It: Shout Out

These images popped in my inbox, from an old child hood friend, who is currently in Virginia for college. You know me, I am a lover of re-styling furniture and giving it a fresh breathe of new life, so I was so happy that she shared her project with me! Now, I am sharing with you... enjoy!

Here is a photo of the desk before:

And here is how the desk looks now, after Stephanie put her magic on it!
Oh what a little paint and Modge Podge can do! Stephanie explained to me, that she loves vintage things and accessories with a lot of color, I think it was a great choice for her to use a simple palette, to compliment her collections.

What do you think of this before and after? Do you have any before and after projects under your sleeve? Email me your photos and story so you can have a Re-Style It Shout Out too!

Thanks, Stephanie for sharing your project!

xoxo

Believe in YOU

Sometimes, starting a business can be a little daunting, overwhelming and stressful. Sometimes you just want all of your hard work to pay off and success to start rolling in. Sometimes people will look at you like your crazy when you tell them your dreams and long term goals. I whole heartily believe, that with patience, love and dedication, you can groom that dream into something big. There will be times when things suck. When you feel like it just might not work. There will be times when you fail at something big. But you've got to get up and keep moving. It all starts with one decision to take a big leap of faith.

One day, I was watching Back and Forth, a Foo Fighters Documentary and front man, Dave Grohl was talking about starting out his band and the early days. It was after Nirvana had came to an end and he was just kind of feeling aimless, so he started making his own music. Then, he got the opportunity to play with Tom Petty. He played with them on SNL. Later on, Tom Petty called him and asked him to be the drummer for his band. Dave was on the phone just thinking "Man! This is F*ing Tom Petty. Asking me to be in his band. This is huge." But he turned him down. He politely declined the offer. He didn't want to be a drummer in someone's band. He wanted to make his own music. He said to this day, he can still see his hand hang up the phone with Tom Petty. Then he said to himself "Ok, let's see what happens."

... Foo Fighters was born. To me, this is such an inspirational story, about taking a huge leap of faith, believing in yourself and doing what you love. Sure, his story is about making a band and creating amazing music and I am starting an Interior Design business, but his story of just taking a risk is so inspiring and motivational to me. Thanks Dave Grohl, for sharing your fears and helping others believe in themselves a little more to take the risk.

Here's the story, you can watch for yourself....
